CHERI  SHERAQUE was born and raised in the San Francisco bay area. Cherie is a professional vocalist, performing with several groups over the years in many styles of music. Some of her ventures include opening for Gregg Allman with avant-garde, rock/opera band 3 B-Infinity, and fronting the funk/Motown/rock band Groove Approved. Cherie currently is the lead singer for Samba Jamba, in which she sings in English, Spanish and Portuguese performing Latin jazz, and also Bejazzled, a group performing standards, and swing. Her name may sound familiar as the Afternoon Drive-Time voice on Kwine 94.5 FM, where she has made her home since 1993. Her early years in radio were as Program and Music Director for the Mendocino County Alternative radio station KLLK, were she worked from 1985 to 1993.

Soul Diva BETTY MAE FIKES was b
orn in Selma, Alabama and descendant of a long line of country gospel singers and preachers, Bettie Mae Fikes began singing gospel alongside her mother at age 4. At the age of 16 she became a student leader for the Student Non-violent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) in the Civil Rights Movement, emerging as a music leader. In 1963 she was jailed for several weeks for protesting during the voting rights struggle in Selma. Bettie began singing with the SNCC Freedom Singers. Her passion and commitment garnered her the Long Walk to Freedom Award as well as a letter from California Governor Gray Davis acknowledging her roll in the Civil Rights movement.

Ms. Fikes has graced the stages of Carnegie Hall, Newport Jazz Festival, the Library of Congress, and numerous Blues Festivals and clubs. In 1964 she sang for the Democratic National Convention and in 2004 she sang for the Democratic National Convention where she was introduced by Maya Angelou. Ms. Fikes has performed with Joe Turner, Lightnin' Hopkins, Albert King, James Brown, Bob Dylan, and Mavis Staples, among others.

ROCHELLE
was born and raised in the Bay Area began singing at the age of 4  and belted out her debut song "Second Hand Rose" at age seven Her musical style is influenced by the great standard and torch singers of the past. Along with standards and ballads Rochelles experience also includes country, gospel,and musical theater.She transplanted here 8 years ago and has recently returned to her love of singing and performing

ANITA BLU grew up in Malibu California, her early musical interests were based on Classical, Motown, Soul, and R&B, and later Jazz and Blues.  Having been dubbed with the description “blue eyed soul”, her smooth sultry singing style is one of a kind.
 The main bands that Anita has been lead singer, and keyboardist in were, the R&B band, ‘Grooveline‘, which later became The 'Groovetones'. Her most recent band was the well known jump blues band ‘Side of Blues’. She was also a member of the Mendocino Jazz Ensemble group for 3 years, as well as many other vocal harmony projects. Her current acapella vocal trio ’The Gossip Choir’ is an eclectic mixture of gospel/blue grass/and jazz.
   
Anita is best known for her harmonies, has been guest back up singer for several bands, and has done recording studio work for many other local artists.
